Which Canadian sports team will dominate the NHL?
The NHL is set to unveil a controversial advertising campaign this week featuring a McDonald’s ad featuring a young woman in a bikini.
The ad, called “The Real Bikini,” features a woman wearing a bikini with her head shaved.
The ad was produced by Larissa McEwan, who recently joined McDonalds as its global marketing director.
McEwan’s Instagram account posted the ad, which has been viewed more than 2 million times.
The hashtag #realbikini was trending on Twitter, with more than 1,000 hashtags referencing the ad.
McDonalds Canada has not yet responded to CBC News’ request for comment.
The company has been criticized for its past advertising practices.
The Canadian Press has described the ads as “distasteful” and said the company has made “a lot of progress” in addressing gender equality in the sport.
The ads have also sparked debate over the appropriateness of female nudity in the workplace.
Last year, McDonalds Canada suspended a male model from its advertising team after he posted photos of himself in a McDonalds uniform with his genitals exposed.
In March, the company’s ad agency apologized after a male staffer was photographed in a similar bikini in a commercial.
A McDonalds spokesperson said in a statement that the company “has never condoned or condoned any of the images or materials used in the ad and will take appropriate action as appropriate.”
