Meet the next billion people on Facebook: the new ad network
Posted by TechCrunch on Wednesday, October 05, 2017 10:01:08The next billion Facebook users is a key goal for the company as it seeks to gain new customers.
A recent study by social media analytics company Quantcast predicts that Facebook will reach that milestone by the end of 2019.
The data company found that Facebook currently has about 10 billion active users, or nearly one-fifth of the world’s population.
Its advertising platforms, which offer targeted advertising on Facebook and other sites, now account for more than one-third of the company’s total advertising revenue.
That includes advertising on news stories, video ads and social networking sites.
But Quantcast says that it will be important for Facebook to increase its ad revenue as it tries to grow its reach and reach out to users beyond Facebook’s existing audience.
Facebook’s advertising platforms are growing rapidly, according to Quantcast.
Facebook has grown to over 100 million active users in the past three years, which is roughly double what it was in 2015.
But Facebook’s growth has been slower than that of rivals like Google and Twitter, which have been able to grow their ad revenue more rapidly.
For example, Twitter, for example, reported $2.8 billion in ad revenue in 2016.
Facebook said it had $1.8 trillion in ad revenues last year.
While Facebook’s ad revenue growth has slowed, it has continued to grow rapidly.
In March 2017, Facebook reported that it had over 500 million monthly active users.
By that month, it had surpassed 100 million.
